Please keep the windows closet
On a recent trip to Lake Garda, we enjoyed two delightful days in Malcesine. Less than a three hour drive from Innsbruck, I can see this bustling town on the eastern shore of the lake becoming a firm favourite short break destination for us.
The town offers a wide variety of activities, from skiing in the winter to hiking and mountain biking in the summer…all with stunning views over the lake. The town itself also has a lot to offer, from delicious Italian ice cream to picturesque cobbled streets. One of the highlights for us was a visit to the castle, which dominates the skyline of this small town.
While wandering the castle I was generally very impressed with the comprehensive yet unimposing information available for tourists, including many very good translations. However, as I was wandering over to the window to admire a particularly beautiful view, I did get a small giggle out of being asked to:
“PLEASE, KEEP THE WINDOWS CLOSET”
Yet another reminder that every translation, no matter how small, makes an impression.
