Camping Hell

When I think of Camping Hell, I think of pitching a tent in the wind and rain. I think of trudging through a muddy field and struggling to get tent pegs to stay in the wet ground. I think of cracked swimming pools, unfriendly hosts, dirty toilets and a long walk to the beach.

Camping Hell in Zillertal, however, is quite the opposite. This poorly named campsite is open in winter and summer and enjoys a wonderful location nestled in the Austrian Alps near the village and ski resort of Fügen, just 40 mins from Innsbruck.

The well rated campsite offers luxury pitches, a minimart, restaurant, cafe, children’s club room with movie theatre and laundry room. Comprehensive sports facilities include a heated fun pool, bio bathing pond, selection of saunas, ski room, bike rental, large children’s playground, an astroturf football pitch and a beach volleyball court.

As far as mistranslations go, this one is hilarious. However, as funny as translation errors can be, they can also be damaging to business.

Would you book a holiday at Camping Hell? Personally I wouldn’t even click on it if it came up first in a Google search…and I only stopped on my way past last week to take a photo of the sign.
