Engaging English lessons that build confidence

All of our English lessons and activities are designed to help children build a strong foundation in English and develop the confidence to handle whatever school and life throw at them.

Most of our lessons take place in our home, where we have created an English-speaking environment and built up a wide range of English-language books, games and other resources for our own children. It's hard to beat learning English in a fully immersive setting.

We know that entrusting your child to someone new is a big leap. We are well integrated into the Innsbruck community, particularly in Mariahilf and Hötting, so feel free to ask around if you would like some informal feedback about us. You are also very welcome to sit in on the first few sessions if you would like to get to know us, our children and our methods a little better.

Fun Lessons

Approach

Learn English through play.

One of the biggest hurdles to language learning is confidence. Our English play sessions are designed to help your child build confidence, comprehension and fluency while having fun.

Activities

Together we enjoy games, stories, crafts, baking, excursions and more. Activities are tailored to your child, their interests and their current learning goals. Each session is designed to encourage natural language learning and acquisition in a fun, relaxed environment.

Age Range

Our English play sessions are suitable for children of all ages. Whether you want your toddler to be exposed to English from an early age with stories and crafts or you have a teenager who would rather play cards, make burgers or kick a football around, we tailor the learning to your child's age, ability and interests.

Location

Sessions are held in our home, where your child can learn English in a relaxed, family-oriented environment surrounded by English books, games and native English speakers. We are based in a very central location in Innsbruck's Mariahilf district. We may also head out on excursions, into town or to local parks and playgrounds.

1 hour: €35 for up to three children
10-session block: €300

English Family Time

Approach

Learn English through full immersion.

Our English family time is like a language holiday at home. Your child simply joins our English-speaking family for a few hours each week. All conversation is in English and there are plenty of English speaking games, books and activities to choose from. Basically, your child gets the benefits of full immersion as part of a family rather than in a classroom.

Activities

In this model, activities aren't specifically planned around your child, although they will always be age-appropriate and we will make sure your child is comfortable and having fun.

If we have nothing particular planned, we might stay at home playing games, reading or doing everyday family activities. If we are heading out, your child simply comes along. For example, we might spend an hour at home building lego or playing cards, followed by a trip to the supermarket, a walk into town for an ice cream or a wander to the park with a football. If your child is with us at a mealtime, they are welcome to eat with the family.

Location

These sessions take place in and around our home, giving your child the chance to learn English in a relaxed, family-oriented environment surrounded by English books, games and native English speakers.

Who's the Family?

We are a British-American family and have lived in Innsbruck since 2010. Jenny speaks with a southern British accent, Paul has an international American accent and our two kids have grown up with a mixture of both.

English Tutoring

English is an important part of the Austrian school curriculum and the pace of learning is extremely fast. If you think your child needs a boost or a little one-on-one support to help improve their grades and feel more confident in class, we can help.

Going into an English lesson feeling confident in your own ability is an amazing feeling and makes a huge difference. Building that confidence now can help your child deal with challenges in the classroom while also laying the foundations for future study, international communication, placements, friendships, travel and work.

Approach

We strongly recommend regular lessons and tutoring rather than last-minute cramming for exams. However, we understand that every child and family situation is different, so get in touch and let us know what works best for you.

Content

Most children like to bring along the work or homework they are currently covering at school but we are also happy to provide additional materials or help them get a head start on upcoming topics. Working ahead can provide a great foundation for learning, break the cycle of struggling to keep up and make it considerably easier for your child to absorb new material during school lessons.
